Questions about the wine

Tempranillo is a classic Spanish red grape variety, known for medium-bodied wines with dark fruit and gentle spice. Two Coqs Tempranillo 2025 brings that Spanish character to Mudgee, New South Wales — handcrafted in small batches with an Australian accent.

It leads with dark cherry and plum, finishing warm and gently spiced. Medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins, it's approachable and food-friendly — made for slow dinners and good company rather than heavy or overpowering.

Tempranillo is a natural match for grilled and roasted meats, especially lamb, as well as tapas, chorizo, tomato-based pasta and hard cheeses like manchego. Its spice and soft tannins suit hearty, shared dinners.

Two Coqs Tempranillo 2025 sits in the medium-bodied range. It has the depth and dark fruit of a serious red but with fine, soft tannins that keep it smooth and easy to drink, without the weight of a big Shiraz or Cabernet.

Serve Tempranillo slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C. A short 20–30 minute decant helps this young 2025 open up and show its fruit, though it's perfectly enjoyable poured straight from the bottle.

Yes. Tempranillo 2025 is available online as a single bottle ($38) or a case of 12 ($410.40, a 10% saving), shipped Australia-wide direct from our Mudgee winery.

How is it made?

Our tempranillo from Mudgee

The 2025 vintage was a great season for Tempranillo, giving us clean, vibrant fruit. We experimented with two different extraction methods: one fermenter was managed entirely with pump-overs, while the other was gently plunged by hand. Blending the two lots helped create the light, elegant tannins and juicy fruit character we were looking for. The wine was then matured for 9 months in barrel, with American oak adding gentle spice, coconut and extra texture while complementing the natural fruit.
