Questions about the wine
No. It's a balanced, modern style, the French oak adds gentle spice and texture rather than heavy butter. Fresh stone fruit and citrus lead, which makes it a great pick even if oaky Chardonnays aren't usually your thing.
White nectarine and lemon curd with a twist of grapefruit, a hint of almond and a fine thread of oak spice. The palate is textural but dry, finishing fresh and long.
Lovely with roast chicken, creamy pasta, grilled prawns or soft, washed-rind cheeses. Versatile enough to carry a whole meal.
Chilled, around 10–12°C — cool but not ice-cold, so the aromatics and oak have room to show. No decanting needed.
It's drinking beautifully now and will hold well over the next few years, gaining a little richness with time. Store it cool, dark and on its side.

How is it made?
Our chardonnay from mudgee
Chardonnay is the wine that first pulled me into winemaking. It hides nothing, so it has to be made with care from the very first pick, and that honesty is exactly what I love about it.
With this 2024, I wanted to let Mudgee fruit lead. I picked early to hold on to the natural acidity and freshness, then matured the wine in French oak, the barrels I grew up around back home, using them for gentle spice and texture rather than to cover the fruit. Beyond that, I stayed out of the way as much as I could. Good Chardonnay doesn't need much help.
